Refugees must survive the selection process, in order to win their lives.

Civil Warfare has ravaged the Earth. Natural disasters have destroyed most of the planet's habitations, killing many millions of civilians. Now, a surge of refugees seek haven in the few 'surviving lands', from the certainty of famine, disease and death in their homelands. But the fragile and remote Surviving Lands cannot withstand this surge in populace. After enforcing border control, and defending themselves from the civil invasion, the Governments of the Surviving Lands devise a process through which refugees can compete for passage to safety.
