Love story with a twist

Young man falls in love with the girl behind the counter at the cafe. Too shy to approach her he just smiles every time he comes in. She smiles back and looks sad every time he leaves. Eventually he plucks up the courage to talk to her. He approaches the counter as she uses the coffee machine. He says hello, but she never turns to face him, and just ignores him. He leaves upset. At the same time a customer drops a tray. Everyone jumps at the sudden noise - except our girl. Her colleague asks her to clean it up, but has to face her to talk to her. The young man eventually comes back. Will he realise she's not rude, but deaf?
