The boy and the cat. Joshua has just lost his parents, his only family. Everything is left for the family lawyer to sort out, somebody Joshua trusts. His parents specified in the will that Joshua must move away from his family home immediately and the lawyer generously offers to assist Joshua with a flat and job in the city. He arrives at the shabby flat to find that nothing works and after his first day at work, Joshua is left feel- ing sad and alone. With no help from his flirtatious neighbour, Sarah, Joshua is forced to have a cold shower and go to work again. After making friends with Martin, his work colleague, Joshua is followed home by a little grey cat. The landlord pays a visit, unwilling to deal with the lack of hot water, he has a go at him for falling behind on the rent and gives him an ultimatum, pay the rent in a week or get out. The cat has appeared in his flat. He’s made a friend. Inspired by the friendly face of the cat, Joshua calls the lawyer to find out what’s going on with the sale of the house, his only hope of some money. The lawyer tells Joshua he’s too busy to worry about the house, it isn’t selling. Joshua becomes a little suspicious of the lawyer. The cat’s freedom in- spires Joshua to give up trying to live in the city and he decides to go back to his par- ents’ home, only to find the lawyer and his wife have taken up residence. Joshua has been betrayed.
