The Colour of Music

2017, 15 minutes

This Documentary is an insight into a neurological phenomenon called Synaesthesia.

This Documentary is an insight into a neurological phenomenon called Synaesthesia in which stimulation of one of the senses causes an involuntary experience in a secondary sense. In order to Explore this phenomenon we have followed artist Jake Andrew Nason who has a strand of Synaesthesia called Chromesthesia. He is able to see colours whenever he hears sound and has learnt to use his unusual and colourful perception of music to create his own unique art. In order to convey his synaesthetic experience Jake has collaborated with the band Flyte to paint their song Faithless. We follow the journey of the painting of the song from start to finish. He then transforms the painting into a projection to create a multi sensory experience of the song and painting which he reveals to the band at their show in Norwich.
