The Egg

2016, 15 minutes

A young man, realizes life and death are not what they seem, and are a process towards evolving to a higher plane of existence.

Marcus, a young gay man of early thirties, awakes in a strange place of fields, trees, and ancient ruins. Sitting on a worn down wall is God. Much to Marcus’s surprise, God informs him, that he has died, tragically, and is in a place of his own manifestation. God is not your stereotypical God. Dressed in Victorian garb, complete with Top Hat and Cane, God, quotes, Shakespeare, Chaucer, Oedipus, likes to sing Led Zeppelin's STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, is fond of Martinis, and dancing the Tango. Marcus and God embark on a philosophical conversation, while wandering through the trees, fields, and ancient ruins. They begin discussing religion, which leads to reincarnation, and God informs Marcus that he too will be reincarnated. In fact, Marcus has been reincarnated many times, much to his surprise, and the purpose of his reincarnations is slowly revealed. During Marcus's conversation with God, and his shenanigans, subjects trigger memories, Flashbacks, to to his previous life with his partner, Daniel, whom he misses very much. The Flashbacks, and memories Marcus has with his life with Daniel become intertwined with his conversation with God, and a tender love story begins to unfold, from when they first met to Marcus's tragic car accident. What begins as a philosophical conversation about religion, reincarnation, theology, philosophy, love, life, and death, eventually leads to the true meaning of Marcus's existence. A revelation, that takes Marcus by surprise, and the audience, as to what is really transpiring, is revealed.
