The Infinitely Great and The Infinitely Little through it's fragmentary structure, follows the adventures of a 7 year old boy who is spending his summer at his grandmother's country house, exploring his immediate surrounding. Noah is a curious and innocent boy obsessed with experiencing the natural world around him. He can sit outside and observe animals in silence for hours. There is no better place for his adventures than his Grandmothers enchanted garden submerged in greenness. When he doesn't wonder around with his tortoise Harriet, Noah often helps her with taking care of her beloved plants, especially the lupines. But while Eleanor loves her grandson very much and encourages his explorations, as they are after all a source of knowledge, she sometimes wishes he wasn't so naive and innocent about the laws of life.
