“The Last Stage” is a dark drama set in the present day English countryside. It is a story about love lost and learning to accept the hardships of life and moving on. The story is based around the 7 stages of grief that occur when we lose someone close to us. Ben Ruskin was once a successful architect who had it all. He was climbing to the top of the career ladder and most of all he had found his one true love, Laura, the perfect woman to spend the rest of his life with. Ben could not be happier until one day while he was busy working late into the night, Laura was involved in a horrific car accident which left her dead. Ben is now a broken man, feeling lost in this new world of pain and bereavement. As he looks back at the times he shared with Laura he slowly begins to remember the way that she lived her life, the values she stood for and that this is not the way she would want him to live his life. As the day goes on Ben begins to realise that he must learn not to blame himself and that no matter how many times life knocks you down, we must all try and accept our fate and get on with our lives.
