The Ministry of Mind

2019, 14 minutes

Something's got a hold of Jack, and it's killing his work-life balance. He's hours away from losing the last good thing he has, but can he take back control?

Jack is overworked, spending all his time alone, working on finding work. He ignores everything, from his interests to his health to his girlfriend. The industrious motivation behind all this comes from The Minister, an all-work-no-play, self-reflexive and self-constructed figment of his mind that has commandeered every thought and faculty to the ultimate aim of an unachievably distant and vague worldly 'success'. Little does the Minister know that tonight is the night the stakes become urgent enough to thrust Jack's defeated sense of self back into action. As his neglected relationship risks wreck on the rocks and an old friend lays bare the depths of his isolation, Jack returns home full of internal struggle over his own mental faculties. This battle only wages deeper inside Jack as he returns home to find his toil seemingly rewarded, but its trail of destruction on his life realised. In the final fight for his own mind, Jack has to face to some hard truths about the forces that have been pushing him all along.
