Ben is a Jewish scribe still in mourning over the loss of his wife. He tries to escape by devoting himself to restoring an old Torah 0- The Safer Torah. He is in debt to a vicious debt collector. The Miracle of the title is his daughter's love for him. She sell her jewelled necklace to pay off the debt.
