The Strangers

2011, 17 minutes

As the global economy collapses around her, one girl at the wrong end of the credit crunch decides to take revenge on "the world's worst banker."

Larry Wheeler is the CEO of First National Bank, an institution on the front line of the banking crisis. Larry is good at his job, very good. Searingly intelligent and laden with wit, he is just the man you’d want steering the ship in the middle of a crisis. But unfortunately for the bank, Larry has fallen for a rather enticing ‘muse’ who persistently emails him. Frieda Moss is at the wrong end of the credit crunch: young, idealistic and dreaming of the life she doesn’t have. Forced out of her home, Frieda decides to take revenge on the man she holds responsible: Larry Wheeler, the man in charge of the bank that repossessed the house. Sharp, quick-witted and well-read, she concocts an apparently foolproof plan to take down the ‘world’s worst banker’ all from the comfort of her own living room by inventing a mysterious and alluring online character. As the two stories collide, at a book fair under the Waterloo Bridge, Larry is forced to unravel the mystery. But with Frieda determined to confront and blackmail him, Larry is forced to confront the consequences of his actions.
