The Unlucky Mother

A widowed single mother comes to terms with the death of her husband
A widowed single mother comes to terms with the death of her husband and reflects on the politically corrupt nation which ultimately caused his death. The Unlucky Mother is symbolic of many of the Ogoni women in Nigeria's Niger-Delta region. We have all heard about Saro Wiwa, and other brave men like him. What we haven't heard about are the countless widowed women of the Niger-Delta who carry the torch long after their husbands are dead. They educate the child and provide for them. They are the forgotten soldiers. Forgotten because of their gender/sex.
