A boy with 'issues' makes contact with alien life

Alex misses his father who gave him a telescope before he left. He uses that and his computer to make contact with the small light balls that have been seen in the sky since the dawn of time. No one believes him and he is riduculed by teachers and pupils alike. Until the lights actually visit him.
