Through the Cracks of Time

Through the Cracks of Time - Reality unravels in a series of intimate portrayals as Simon tries to journey through time and once again capture the future.

The film explores modern living through message services and mobile devices negotiating a relationship with time. Simon our central character is a time traveler who returns to a chaotic, disintegrating life and searches for a way back to the future he has left. Using mobile phones as cameras the idea was to try and make the film as realistic to life as possible while also exploring different apps to achieve a range of film techniques such as time-lapse and screen compositing. Emma Heath adapted the original screenplay leading the characters through a maze of emotions. With a strong cast of actors the script took on a vibrant life reflecting the modern condition and its permanence to technology. As director I wanted the audience to have a hint of the voyeur as if they were peeking into the private life of somebody unknown to them.
