Martin discovers his old pal has a unique strategy for dealing with ex-girlfriends.

Martin, trying to cope with a break-up, visits his old friend, Colin, and enquires how his friend dealt with the situation when Colin's partner, Kate,left him a few months before. Colin is enigmatic on the subject. During the conversation, Martin notices a pet hamster rolling around in a plastic sphere across the carpet. This, Colin mentions,is his docile pet, Roy. Later that night, Martin is awoken from sleep by a noise downstairs. When he investigates he discovers Colin in the basement brooding over his second docile pet - Kate, who is imprisoned in a large plastic sphere.
