Kathryn is trying to sort out her relationship with her son

‘Unreal’ is based upon the increasingly tenuous relationship between a mother (KATHRYN) and son (RUSSELL), after her husband/his father (SAM) passes away unexpectedly. The son seeks solace within the world of video games but it soon turns into obsession, as his perception of reality vs. the gaming world become warped; the mother becomes increasingly concerned for her son’s welfare as well as struggling to come terms with her own grief and guilt.
