Vertical Village

2012, 15 minutes

A mild man notices a threat no one else acknowledges, a tentacle monster eating his neighbours. Based on "Let the Right One In" writer John Ajvide Lindqvist.

Joel Anderson, has lived in the top floor apartment in a high-rise in an ordinary suburb for 23 years and four months, when he one day realises that something strange is happening to the flat. At first Joel cannot put his finger on it, it just makes him sick to the stomach, although as he thinks on the fault, as he calls it, the house seems to be slanting, just slightly, but still, it is slanting. He rationalises everything and tells himself that everything is normal, yes, his house might fall down, but this is all normal, and today is not the day it is going to happen anyway. Tell the neighbours? You shouldn't bother people with petty problems, right? And somebody else has probably already complained, why do it twice? At the end - this sentiment is what kills him, as well as the rest of the inhabitants of the building as something supernatural sees it as a great way of getting a snack.
