An apparently paraplegic jeweler, Sydney, has lost his wife and his diamonds (and his marbles ?). He employs a decorator, Sam, to make his house ready for his (dead?) wife's return. When Sydney cannot pay his bill and tries to drown himself Sam rescues him and supplies his own girlfriend in lieu of Sydney's wife ?! Sam finds Sydney's 'reality' is difficult to follow but Sydney gets the girl and the diamonds in the end.
