In an alternative Britain where the death penalty has been reintroduced, Olivia Maxwell has taken on the role of the UK's first executioner in over fifty years. The film follows Olivia through the first day of her new position, and the events that test her understanding of justice. Despite initially being a believer in capital punishment, Olivia is wary of the complete anonymity that comes with the role. Taking this job means that she must keep her identity secret from the world, and more importantly her family. But knowing that this promotion will be a financial benefit for them, Olivia accepts. Since taking the job, Olivia’s personal life has become tense, the lies have built up at home as she tries to keep her new role a secret. It gets worse when it is revealed that Vince Huxley, the first man to be executed has used his last request to meet her face to face. The encounter forces Olivia to realise certain similarities between her and Vince, leading to questions of morality. Does the death penalty make killers of us all?
