Hello everyone,

Does anyone know and have an opinion about 1st talent acting agency? Are they a serious agency? I applied to join them and was invited for an audition but I can't figure out if it's a serious place or not. Thanks for the advice!

Hi Benedetta,

I have also been approached by 1st Talent, today in fact.

I hope someone who has dealt with them responds soon.

Best wishes,

KC

They tried to come to my drama school showcase. The head of our year warned us against them. Some sources say they represent over 1000 people. Goodness knows how they are still running.

Hi David,

Thank you for your answer. I decided to not go to the audition in the end. Glad I made the right choice!

Hi, I also was approached by 1st Talent Actors Agency. They said "We represent around 300 actors between 18 and 80, but are now expanding our books and are searching for talented Actors and Actresses." I am a bit unsure now - but was keen before. I wonder if anyone has had any positive dealings with them?

Thanks David.

If you search agencies in the drop down menu they appear. They're said to represent a number of CCP artists. I know this doesn't necessarily mean they're 'legit' but it would be great if one of them were to spot this thread and contribute.

Cheers.

KC

Most agents have a list somewhere between twenty and fifty clients. How on earth are they representing three hundred people. How can they possibly look after that many people.

I'd agree with David sounds strange, no agent can look after that amount of people properly. Just my thoughts but i wouldn't do it they could have too many people like you on their books and you don't want that.

i met some of them at showcase i did last year. I am still unrepresented but they seemed friendly enough as people. Not sure how they work if there books so large but they seem to focus on different areas in the industry some is voice work while others is acting.

Hi, I was signed with them for about 18 months, and they got me 2 auditions. They seemed to be legit, although they did encourage me to have headshots taken at their audition, which cost £65 - but they were half decent headshots, and a good starting point. Friendly folks, but I didnt get much from them.
Hope that helps : )

Hi Louise

I have been with them for 15 months. Have been offered 3 castings, all walk on's. In that time I have had four handlers. I have gone London to meet them each time my handler ( Casting. Agent) changed. I kept emphasizing the kind of roles I was interested in, definitely not walk on's. I have heard nothing from them since.
To be honest I only went with them because I wanted an agent's name other than 'Care of Spotlight' on my CV. However I am now thinking of giving them the elbow, after all they only appear to get the jobs from Spotlight and I do that for myself.
Anyhow that has been my experience. I wish you every luck and hope you get the right agent for you.

Approached by them again today. Their client list has now grown to 400+

What's interesting is that whenever you check out a client profile, there's very little to show that can't be found elsewhere. Less in fact, as credits to profiles don't appear to have been included.

They sound like an agency you would want to give a wide birth too. I tend to follow agencies on twitter and find out how many success story's they have got for there clients and then choose from that.

Hi all !
Don't be alarmed I am with 1st talent as my sole commercial agent . I applied and went for an audition in which they selected about 3 people from about 80. They do like to hold auditions every few months or so and advertise this . Doesn't mean they will actually take anyone on !. As far as I know they only represent 100 odd adults and the same amount of children.Anyhow I have been with them for just over a year and they have been great for me , always quick to respond to my queries , I have been put in front of leading agents like Louise Collins, Charmel Cochrane and Thom Hammond Cox ( and booked the job) . I've been to lots of auditions , of course it's nigh on impossible to book all jobs you get put up for .All have been decent and worthy jobs one of the jobs was a 15 k buy out!.
They always send me my quarterly breakdowns and I'm sure they fight my corner when they feel I am particularly right for a role .
I do totally understand people's concerns re agencies let's face it this business is let down by fraudsters and people waiting to exploit your naivety/eagerness .
But in my personal opinion they have been fab so fear not !

Hi everyone
I applied to join 1st talent via star now, and got an audition, in summer 2014. The script was strange...I had to play a character who was hearing voices and going mad! I thought it went well but I got rejected, however when they said I had been one of the last 20 out of 100s of auditioners to be shortlisted, I thought I would try again. So, in summer 2016, I again got asked for audition with exactly the same script! The audition took place in a tiny room, as big as a cupboard, and I paid about £60 for some really poor headshots. They were of poor quality and no use for any agency profiles. It was a very hot day and they did provide bottled water but I got exactly the same rejection reply again....that I had been one of 20 out of 100s that they shortlisted. I am not going to bother with them again.
Also, they represent young children too. At the 2016 audition, there were a few young children waiting to audition. In the waiting area (tiny), the kids were all treated well, and looked after.

Hi, They approached me a couple of times and I responded but heard nothing the first two times. Finally, the third time (of them asking me!) I went to audition. Like Andrea, tiny little cupboard sized studio, very packed waiting room and the same short monologue (this was 2016 so same script used as 20.14). They wrote to me saying I had been down to the last 20 of the 300 they saw but they only took on 8 people that time. I didn't have any headshots done as i already had mine. Hope this helps.
