Hi there,
I was just wondering im in a pickle! i have an agent interested but the agent im with is sole representation. Now i wanted this agent to concentrate on the auditions in the south and my agent to concentrate on the north but my agent isnt happy about that! can i ask for some advice as i am from the north but i need an agent who has the contacts in the north but also the same amount in the south. I didnt think there would be many agents with equal contacts which is why i think i need 2! Any feedback would be great!!!

Maggie Lackey the Centre Manager of the Northern Actors Centre is a good person to get advice from regarding Manchester Agents.

If you are not a member of NAC then join its brill. You get to meet other actors and find out lots of useful info. Plus the classes are excellent.

No need to audition to join the NAC. And Northern actors are very friendly and helpful.

I know:

Amber Personal Management
ICON Actor
Jane Hollowood Associates
Philippa Howell Personal Management

Are all well thought off and are NAC corporate members.(Meaning you get free membership of the NAC if they represent you) Though Maggie would be able to better advise you than me.

Wishing you lots of luck

Almost everybody I ever met who had a sole agent agreement was unhappy with it if they were really serious about working. Of course there are those people out there who think that being represented by a sole agent means some kind of brownie points or something but those people almost never get any work.

I always tell anybody who's interested in me that I will work for whoever I want to whenever I please and that's just part of the deal, take it or leave it. Consequently I'm with a number of various agents/agencies of allsorts who are completely happy to do business like that and I also get a fair few jobs through personal contact from casting agents as well. My advice is to NEVER let anyone claim to be your sole agent.
