what i cant understand is i know!! and have seen some really good actors on this website and they look great and can act.i know im a good actor too ever since i was a pup, what really gets to me is that iv just seen a few other actors on here that have some of the agents that i applied for and iv seen there showreel and they are crap, i dont understand, what happens if your a shit actor and you have a showreel agents just dont care. my whole point of writng this is that agents need to step up and look deep in our acting and see what we can do. iv applied for like 5 agents yesturday and to be honest im fed up of them just looking through my page and passing by not even asking any questions it really does amaze me. just please be more helpfull AGENTS we are making you the money too for god sake

Amir .... Alan's just pointing out the fact, that you spelt the word 'grammar' wrong. Isn't this the very thing we have been saying ??. Re-read, and edit, what you say, Old Son.

In response to what has been said in this thread, and the references you make to your agents not working for you/things not happening as much as you'd like in regards to people not seeing your talent; I think you, (and everyone!!) needs to remember that what you put out there is just as important as what talant you have.

As said, your credit list is important, and the detail you can add under skills and other info must be concise and well presented. Also, keep in mind how you speak to people both in person and via email. They will remember if you're the person who couldn't be bothered to capitalize or look up how to spell the directors name. Likewise, if you turn up to the auditions you do get... think abut how you're acting and what you're going to be viewed as.

For ages, I was turning up to auditions acting shy and a bit unwilling to talk - of course, I generally got nowhere with it, until someone gave me some pointers. We all need some guidance now and then!

So yeah, give your profile the once over, send it to a friend to edit. Have a reflect on how you're acting around CDs and on set, and whether than affects how likely you are to get the part. And I wish you the best of luck, Amir.

Adverb, dear fellow...ADVERB! "wrongly"

Lol!

I think that an Alex Douglas Home government schools inspector would be busy for years correcting all the spelling and syntax errors in these threads!
However, a Gordon Brown inspector would probably take less than two minutes!

^ Grammer is not a word.

It's a company name, though, but I don't think that's relevant.

I don't actually have much to add to this conversation in terms of suggestions. I just wanted to say that I love these threads as they give so much insight and tips for someone like me who's just starting out professionally.

It's really heartening to see the support and help on offer from everyone on here.

...All efforts should be directed towards getting a show reel online asap.
Self confidence is a 110% requirement if your going to get anywhere in this business & you have 'crap loads' of that! Just work a bit on the presentation & decide which sort of agent you want then go & get one.
Best,
'Pole'

Hey Amir! I agree with what others have said about needing a showreel, you really DO need to try to get one up together. If anything you've done has ended up on youtubem you can whip it off there, but only if it's good quality. The edit of the showreel doesn't have to be too slick, but the avtual footage does need to put you in a good light. Your look is very strong and you have anice headshot, but maybe one too many agencies? Having more than one agent listed can go against you, do be wary of listing two even if you use both agencies. What you really need is an agent (rather than an agency) so look through the lists of agents with open books and contact them, they may ofrfer an audition based on your marketable look, you never know. The other thing is, in an audition situation you are auditioning AS SOON as you walk through the door, before you even do any acting. Any whiff of attitude, lack of professionalism or anything else that might cost filming time will really count against you, so be ultra-professional at all times (as I'm sure you are!!). The CD will want to see you come in, do your stuff and they'll assess if they think they can work with you for an extended period of time! It's also worth having in the back of your mind that agents do often follow these threads so keep your chances of representation high by showing yourself in the best light possible! (Although a rant every now and then is what this forum is all about and it keeps us sane!) All the best Amir - keep us up to date :)

I've met several casting directors out there who have said that even if you only have one really good clip of you acting well, you should put it up online for them to see. So, while you're waiting for the showreel piggy bank to get heavy, you might as well work with what you've got!

The 'paid/unpaid work' argument has been done to death so please no-one hijack the thread (lol), but if no footage already exists, surely it's a good case to do whatever necessary to get your hands on a really well filmed piece that shows you off...
