what i cant understand is i know!! and have seen some really good actors on this website and they look great and can act.i know im a good actor too ever since i was a pup, what really gets to me is that iv just seen a few other actors on here that have some of the agents that i applied for and iv seen there showreel and they are crap, i dont understand, what happens if your a shit actor and you have a showreel agents just dont care. my whole point of writng this is that agents need to step up and look deep in our acting and see what we can do. iv applied for like 5 agents yesturday and to be honest im fed up of them just looking through my page and passing by not even asking any questions it really does amaze me. just please be more helpfull AGENTS we are making you the money too for god sake

As controversial as I'm sure this is, I can't help wondering if someone in the CCP office might be so bold as to delete this thread as, however much we all need a rant sometimes and this sort of forum is a perfectly acceptable outlet, perhaps on this occasion the nature of the thread is in danger of being extremely counter productive, or damaging even, to the profile of the thread starter (as rather evidenced by the response from the only actual agent to contribute to the thread).
Obviously just one bloke's opinion, but I think the rant has had it's moment and perhaps now it's time clear the slate...? Just a thought.

I agree with Al. Can we delete this?

^ perhaps. if it is indeed deemed counterproductive.

If the threads' direction could instead be turned towards improving agent/actor contact/relationships then I think it could be a beneficial thing.

...I'm agreeing with you on that one! I know I am the one that started the thread off, in a rant obviously! I got some great advice from some really talented and dedicated people, but now I wish I kept my mouth shut.
Like I mentioned before, I'm going to learn from my mistakes...after all I'm only human!

remember everybody, acting sucess is due to 25% talent and 75% per cent hard work !!!! and thats not me talking , but someone very respected who told me years ago in one of my first jobs !

I would disagree with your mentors percentages there Andrew! A huge factor for success remains and always will be luck! Talent and hard work alone is no guarantee of success in this game!

Oh yes, Lady Luck. A what a flighty thing she is! You're right, Forbes. Luck, talent, hard work, the right look at the right time etc.. But the great thing is, because it can be so random you just NEVER KNOW. And that's what keeps us going, isn't it? :) x

mmm true in some ways , but i think the other thing that was implied that the talent and hard work is used to help create your own luck . things will sometimes just happen with events , meetings ect , the talent/ hard graft in right places is what pays off

Or, as Maggie Smith put it: "You need to have a talent for having talent."

As an agent may I add my two penny worth, we always want to see any new clients work. In an ideal world it would be in fringe etc, but showreels do really help. If he/she takes our eye then we would audition them if they were not available to be seen. having more than one agent on your page is a no no would put me off straight away, asking the question why?

On another point we do get snowed under by applications as try as we do we cannot always find the time to say sorry no room at the moment to everyone.
