Well I know that CH stands for Clive Hurst...

But C H Casting stands for Mark Veller and Brian Evans...

Perhaps I should feel flattered that my initials are being used for yet another agency run by the directors of Rondevous, B & M, C P Promotions and Open Door Promotions...

Click on this farcical correspondence from the DTI:

It would appear that the DTI cannot tell a scam when it sees one!

But...

We can tell a scam when we see it...!

Watch this space...

Rondevous yesterday and today were at the Thistle hotel in Middlesbrough, doing what they do best...

One lady who went there yesterday had the good sense to 'Google' Rondevous and alerted me on this venue. So we have saved one little girl of 8, from being duped by these promises of work, where no work is found; but a second up-front fee is required by the third part work-seeking service/employment agency...

I am sure the local newspaper will be keen to cover this story next week!

Eimaj run by a Jamie Randall, who also runs Hoto Promotions, JR Film Extras and previously 10AM Management; also promise to find you an agency, were at a hotel venue in Farnborough also this weekend, so one of my spies told me earlier today...

I rang the hotel receptionist, the lady sounded very helpful even though it was just before the session at the hotel finished.

I discovered that the receptionist was an actor and also a member of Equity, who was just about to go on tour with a theatre company...

It is a small world isn't it!!!

I joined hidden faces for all of about a year and I joined another 'agency' that asked for upfrount fees called performers directory they told me that I was being put up for work but nothing every happened, I didn't think much of it till i met a couple of actors who had aslso been menbers and told me the exact story except for the fact that they had been members for a couple of years whereas as I had only been a member for a year.

I have noticed that quiet alot of theese 'agency' advertise in free newspapers and magazines normally asking you to call a number that looks suspisically like a mobile number or you required to pin your details in to there website they would then bombard you with emails and telephone calls. I have also noticed that the websites look very professional and the fact that you have to pay in advance is always in the very very very small print!

Hi Leila,

I have heard a number of stories about Performers Directory...

They are a work-seeking service, not an employment agency...

But they make claims to find you work opportunities; and so do Hidden Faces...

A new agency called C H Casting booked into hotels last weekend, 4th & 5th November, at the following hotel venues: Swansea and Fleet.

So the agency had two teams of salespeople trying to illicit up-front fees from (unsuspecting) members of the public. This agency is known to work with West 1 who has the same managers as Hidden Talent & Faces...

Both adverts state, 'Models & Extras Auditions', which gives the impression that people are auditioning for actual jobs. It also mentions 'Free Photo Test'. There is no mention of the actual fee charged of £180...

When you go to the Hotel, you find all the publicity material and salespeople are from Regardez. So why is the agency Regardez - giving a bogus agency name of C H Casting - in their advert? Why mislead would be models and extras?

See the Agency Helpline for more details, click on: http://agencyhelpline.blogspot.com

Do not pay up-front at hotel venues, any reputable agency will deduct a book casting directory fee from your first day's earnings.

Hi leilei,

You may be interested to know also...

That due to all the publicity about West 1, see below, the agency has just changed one of their trading names to 'Models One Promotions', they were at a hotel venue this weekend on 4/5 November, in Ipswich, Suffolk, asking applicants for £179 to find them an agency called Regardez. As I have stated above Regardez have also changed their name to 'C H Casting'...

Why are these agencies trying to hide their - true identities?

Erik Chandler as manager, runs both West 1 and Hidden Faces. Brian Evans & Mark Vella are directors of Rondevous & Regardez; how convenient!

does this not scream CON! to anyone else, it's basic fraud really isn't it because when they sell you the 'product' they don't give all the info, and why do they have so many names is tha because people are cottening on to what they are doing? or is the manger getting abit greedy?

Well,

You and I know a scam when we see one...

But a little girl of 14 or 15 who see the advert; and their mums - only see the 'free photo shot' they have no idea that they will be charged £180, until they get to the venue...

I think the lady who appeared on BBC Radio Nottingham summed it up very well...

Once she read about the agency on the Internet she understood; and wanted to stop others being duped. I think she was very courageous in admitting in public - that she had been a ... and wanted to warn others.

With my own registered address being in Norwich, I'm both cringing and glad that these people are being exposed. I'm not a 'management company' and can't imagine any situation where I would ask an actor for a fee of any kind (deferment maybe..), but I hate to see Norwich get a reputation as a haven for rip-off artists in media.

I generally avoid anything that charges a fee to make a contact. I just looked at another casting site recommended by someone on another thread of this one, and seeing the £30 membership fee clicked away. You don't get better contacts by paying more. A small producer is much more likely to lurk the free sites. The big ones have their own agents to find people.

Well I know some lovely people in Norwich...

I think they will be turning out this weekend 2/3 December, at the Quality Hotel, 2 Barnard Rd, Bowthorpe.

Because the (in) famous agency called Rondevous, or is it C H Casting? NO! They have yet another new name, of Superia Casting... I wonder what name they will use next month?

Anyway, they will be at this venue giving all the Norwich folk a great Xmas present, yes something for nothing; or is it - nothing for something?

Well anyway, they will be giving children a FREE photo shot, but they will also give their parents - an up-front fee of £180 per child!

What a great present just before Xmas; and this is not all...

Now they have another agency called Wannabee Profile Casting... who they put you in touch, who then charge you a further £135.

Clever stuff this...

They are at the same address but have different directors...

You could not make it up!!!

Oh by the way West 1... oops, they are now called 'Models One Promotions', will be at the Ramada Hotel, 73 Granby Street in Leicester this weekend too; doing exactly the same thing...

A big thank you, to all my little spies out there, who keep me informed; what would I do without you???

Keep up the good work!

All the best,

Clive

Just as well I'm busy this weekend, could be tempting to do some spying myself and see if I'd get a free lunch out of it.
