Is it possible to do this without an agent?

Hi all, we have been applying for jobs for a couple of weeks now with no replies yet, but have been approached by an agent. Just wanted to ask whether many people have been successful in getting jobs without one, or if it is pretty much essential? Happy to go with an agent, just concerned about letting them down if we can't make castings (we live in Glos and I work part time) Thanks in advance, any advice appreciated

hi, I got my daughter a lot of work through various websites without an agent. But i have just signed up with an agent who has got her more work, and takes the pressure off of me as I don't really want to spend my time looking for her now as my life has got busier ! Make sure you go with a good agent. Check them out and look at their reviews. x

I run my own agency but I advise all parents & clients to self represent & promote too. Most agencies receive the same casting calls, but companies like this one get exclusive. Also, many agents wait for the calls to come and aren't pro active. Having an agent does make you look more professional however and are always there to offer advise etc. Choose your agent from personal recommendations- don't always assume the biggest agent is the best for your child. Beware paying high admin fees or upfront fees...if an agency is truly interested in representing your child, they will waive or reduce fees accordingly. Do not get dragged along by glossy websites and NEVER believe false promises. At the end of the day, an agent is there to represent you...they are not doing you any favours. You know your child better than anyone. Hope that helps. Sara (Ella's mum)
