Just out of curiosity - Who, in your opinion, would make up a top 10 list of agents/agencies in the London area...?

Editorial Comment You're welcome to list your top 10 however, please don't list a bottom 10 along with associated grumblings as this will be likely to cause problems and have the thread removed!

Lucy,

It's not really about who deserves what.

It's just the way the market works. Its supply and demand and we all collude in it.

As an example, we pay exorbitant prices to watch these top actors and sports people performing....

why??

Because it entertains us and brings us respite from our daily lives...

Yet if the Government asked us to pay the equivalent amount, weekly say, to fund nurses for example, we would grumble about the Government raising our taxes...

Cant have it both ways !

Every well-meaning person realises that fees for top actors and footballers are astronomicallty high

but that, unfortunately, is the capitalist system that we live in and choose to live in.

I'm not saying that is good or bad... it's just the system.

If you are happy with acting for nothing, then that's good for you,

but i dont think somebody should be criticised for thinking £13,000 approx per annum

(hardly the lottery)

is not a princely sum to live on !!

I was with a top agency, im not going to say their name, but they didnt do anything for me, i thought i was on top of the world when i left drama school and signed with them, but when i was with them i didnt audition for months and if i did audition it was like left over stuff like commercials and coporate, they cared about their high profile clients, i didnt feel i was part of the agency, i felt i didnt belong there, i felt worthless, i see their clients auditioning for films and getting offered big movies, tv and theatre work and when it came to me i was like a piece of crap. Now i found a agent which cares about me and wants to see me do well, my agent is not big, hopefully he will get there, he cares about his clients he treats every client the same, he has a great relationship with all his clients, i think thats what you need, dont think just because your with a big agent that means your career is going to go smooth, its about buliding a healty relationship, and having patience, faith and hope in your talents and ability. and thats my advice is not to think about just because the agency is huge but to think about whats best for you and sometimes having a top agent will not work out, but having a agent that cares about you and your talents.

thats just my opinion, some of you might disagree, which is fair enough, and i might be wrong with the things i said. but i wish everyone success, happiness, good health and wish all your dreams comes true. and hope to see you all as oscar winners and in the cinema and on the big london stage.

lots of love and respect
