Hiya, I would say that you should look at some of Alan Ayckbourn's scripts as they are very good for female comedy monologues. I am also currently learning Kelly's piece from 'Scuba Lessons' the by Joseph Zeccola. It is a great comedy/lively piece. Hope that this helps!

Are you looking for something that's contemporary and slanted to alternative comedy, or something more Commedia-orientated with a 'classical' twist?

I just took a quick look at your cv, and I'd suggest looking into Aristophanes works. Although I couldn't propose something in particular, if you can get into the cultural-roots swing of his plays, then they can be very funny. They do require technical know-how to pull off, but it's very good to see that stuff done...Very rare too.
Definately something to talk about for a culture vulture.

Just don't do anything from Cooking with Elvis. Last show melmoth did we have about ten renditions of the same piece..

Best thing to do is buy one of those books 'female audition pieces' - and then strike everything in it off your list.

LOL

Seriously though -Two by Jim Cartwright has some nice pieces in it. Not sure how often they're done though

Jo, I am developing a sitcom in which there is a 30-something single woman. There is a passage within that which is written as an outpouring to camera about failed relationships, lack of babies and running out of time before all her eggs have deserted her... It's more for mid thirties but I could send you the script if you like - it would be nice to give it a run out in the paddock!

Shannon - can't seem to mail you through the site as you seem to have filter on which only allows Casting Directors? Perhaps you can alter that or mail me your email address outside CCPro...

Hi and thank you to those who have requested a look at the monologue piece. I have now uploaded it to my profile so you can find it under the 'Files' section (top left). It's called 'Writing Sample'.
