Soap auditions...

I had a soap audition not so long ago. It was for Dove for Men. I didn't get the job. Needless to say I will not be using their product ever again.

30 or 40 are seen for main cast, 3 or 4 for guest roles (PC/Nurse etc) x

It depends on the casting director (and the soap) how many they bring in, but, in my experience, I have never known it to be more than a handful so I would have to disagree with the previous post.

CD's are meticulous in their notes and planning and it's not in their interests or the interests of the producers/exec producers to bring in lots of actors.

if you're being seen as a regular for a soap (or long running drama!) then you've done very well and your chances are as good as the others they are seeing!

Well, I'm gobsmacked at that figure.

If that's the case and they have seen that many actors, it can only be .... Holyoaks!

And I wouldn't call that rubbish a soap!!

No it wasn't Hollyoaks but it was another set in the north!
So do they really usually see less than that for new regulars??
If so, then to even get through the door must be a good thing! I honestly guessed that an average figure would be 20 to 40.

Never having been asked to shall we say, the southern based soap, I can't answer for that, but having been to most of the northern ones, it is usually 3 to 5 per character. I've never been to a soap casting with more than 5 up for the role. It is usually only TVC's where there tends to be dozens of actors for a role.

Well, its in the past now but it was around 25 to 30. I know because I saw the list. That's quite a lot then by the sound of it!
