Parent of a child actor here - how do people approach the situation of being asked to self tape/audition, with the promise of a decision in the coming weeks, only to not hear back?

Would you email and ask for an update?

Hi, it’s a difficult one. Things are so stop start at the moment so they may well be on hold. Could you ask your agent to follow up? We were waiting on a really big job recently only found out he’d not got it when the cast was announced on social media. Also auditioned nearly a year ago for something never heard a thing, out of the blue was pencilled this week. Covid has definitely changed timelines for production. Im so impatient and turn into a constant email checker. It’s so hard to forget and move on especially if they have said they will let you know. Maybe give it a bit longer....hope you get a positive outcome.

It's hard isn't it?! You are right about the production possibly being delayed though and I hadn't considered that if I'm honest.

Thanks and good luck!

Its hard but you could just contact your agent to see if they know what is happening. I am waiting to hear from a recall for a huge film after being asked my availability between now and end of August and that was nearly 2 weeks ago now. But I cannot do anything, I know I have a recall and the production is starting filming at the end of March, so I have to just wait and I keep working on my self-tape ready. Good Luck!
