Actors working together

Does anyone know if there'a a workshop where actors get together either one evening or weekends to brush up on skills and support-advise-eachother?

Ideally one where you pay just for the hire of the venue, to keep the price down - I can't afford a 'course' so I'm looking for a group of actors that meet regularly to have fun and pass on the benefit of their own experiences, work on scene's, impro, generally work on area's where you feel your getting rusty or loosing confidence in a fun and supportive environment, between jobs.

In London or Essex.

Lena, I cannot think of something that meets all your criteria, but take a look at Rikki Beadle Blair's weekly Acting On The Edge sessions from 1pm on Saturdays at the Actor's Centre. There's always something of a regular acting class/workshop on that day.It does cost £14.Not free, but it's something.'Spose you'd haev to join the actor's centre!

Sorry that can't help down your way, but you may wish to start something up. This has been done in my neck of the woods - Edinburgh (www.actorskitchen.org) and Glasgow (www.actorsbothy.com).

Be enterprising - I'm sure there will be others who would join in - and remember the main thing: have fun!

Nigel (and anyone else who's interested): there's a periodic event in Liverpool called Organic Cherry, involving actors, writers and directors. I haven't been to one yet, but I've heard very good reports.

We've managed to get one going here in Brighton. Its lasted about 12 weeks so far but needs more people to keep it going to sustain it. We've had 25 people turn up over the various weeks but not all at the same time due to other committments etc... We've a great deal on a venue and so it only cost £2 a time and that includes a cuppa. We usually play a few improve games, read a couple of scenes and get feedback on audition pieces. The whole concept is for it to rely on what members of the group bring each week. So if you are in Brighton or environs then come along. Its at the Hannover Community Center 215-415 Thursday afternoons but best to message me first as sometimes the times change due to other bookings on the hall. Please come along....

That sounds like a great idea, I'd definitely be up for coming along. I'm based in Canary Wharf so anywhere central or even a little bit out would work for me. It's nice to keep using the skills!

This is a very good idea. I would be happy to join you and I hope that it goes ahead soon.
I'm also in Loughton but my family are in Chelmsford so I can easily get around Essex for such a beneficial plan.
Perhaps somewhere around Chelmsford would be the best half-way point for a great pilgrimage of actors :) I look forward to hearing more.

Hi Guys

For anyone interested in starting an Essex-London group can you tell me which days and times you would prefer and the locations -
Evening and weekends are better for me, but it needs to accommodate everyone so we might need to have alternate days-times to suit.

Once I've got all the information and I can work out what works better for everyone and start looking for affordable space.
It's going to be more fun if this is a collaboration of people working together so all help, idea's and suggestions are more than welcomed!

Post me privately if you prefer.

Hello Everyone.

I'm going to look at a venue in Chelmsford tomorrow, near the station.
They have a space available on Friday evenings from 6-30.

Is everyone happy with Friday evening in Chelmsford? If so - do you want to meet every week or every other week?

Please let me know asap on: actorsworkingtogether@yahoo.co.uk
