I am a member of Mad Dog and recently recieved a text saying that they wanted to put me forward for a job and was I available on certain dates. I replied back that I was, but have heard nothing else since. s this the way the system works? They check for availability, then put you forward and then you get contacted if and when the 'job' wants you? Would be grateful if there are any other members out there who could confirm/deny this for me? Thanks very much guys!

Hi, I have been with mad dog since early last year. At the registration, you do get your measurements taken, and it's advisable to bring a spare outfit for the photographing session. If you have long hair they might want it up or down, and it's best not to wear patterned clothes, but something smart/causal that you look good in. At the registration day they are friendly and efficient, and it's an opportunity to meet other actors and make some contacts. There is no parking on the London site, and the security guys get annoyed if you arrive too early. I have had a handful of jobs through mad dog, but it's a good idea to join other agencies too. It can take 6-8 weeks to be paid, and the book fee is taken out of your first job of every year. Recently I've been released from many roles from mad dog, which has been disappointing, but I turn to other sites and keep applying for roles every day.

Hi

I've been with Mad Dog for a few months now. They do call you for jobs, (extras, walk-ons, commercials etc) but its not up to them whether you get the job or not. They work with many productions and they decide which artist they want to go with. Mad Dog just provides the artists and suggest the artists to their clients. It's hard to get picked, there's a lot of competition. If you don't get picked, maybe try to change you photos..
Theres no joining fee, but they get a commission. Fair enough! Don't rely on a extras-providing agency to get a job, though:)

There is (or was) a sub section for featured jobs Mad Dog started a couple of years ago so more like an acting rather than a background agency. There were certain eligibility criteria for joining that bit.

Maddog charge a book fee of £73 plus commission on first job of the year, so you could earn nothing for you first day, outrageous, it used to be illegal to charge book fee, proper acting agents dont charge any fee for going with them. And especially if you are already with them. makes my blood boil. I have had lines with them and good dance jobs.

Don’t waste time and effort on Maddog 2020!! They are a complete joke ! There is no human contact as the enquires are churned out by computer depending on what you click on when filling in your profile . They charge a rip-off book fee and you will surprisingly get a job when your fee is due! They keep their books open all year also so the longer you are with them the less your likely to work. My advise is don’t join them. The early posts are positive mainly because they were written 13 years ago when things were slightly better.
My advise is train up to be an actor and go down that route instead .

I've been with Mad Dog 2020 as it's now called for just under a year. I've gotten one job so far, which was a TV commercial with a featured role (tuba player). After all deductions (book fee, commission, VAT), the pay was just over £1,100 for a 5 hours' work, so I can't complain!
