Corona Time? (COVID-19 On The Acting Industry)

Hello people!

These are truly challenging times in our industry. I think it’s clear to see things are changing rapidly due to the global pandemic.

Some of us are now on a major lock down which can indeed be stressful. However we must adapt and overcome the stress this might bring. Instead shift your mind state. We now have a abundance of time on our hands.

Now is a chance to reflect over old notes, reach out to casting directors/agents, practice our writing, create various projects or top up on the knowledge books bring.

I’m on the hunt for any online acting classes/workshops. Anything I find or come across I’ll also share too.

Stay safe everyone
Thanks

Hi Jordan, well put and I agree with everything you've said.

I would suggest using Twitter if you don't already, lots of casting directors and industry professionals are offering free workshops, classes, one to one's and online meets to keep things alive during this time.

All the best to everyone,

Oz.

Hi Jordan,
I am creating daily threads on Twitter of all the 1-2-1, online workshops and industry talks I can find. I pin the relevant one for each day to the top of my tweets. My Twitter name is my name on here.
All the best

Hi Jordan, here are two leads for you -
the Actors Centre in London have just started doing a range of online courses -
https://www.actorscentre.co.uk/workshops

Warren Rusher is continuing to host his Speak The Speech monologue workshops Online on Zoom - the first one was last night - there is no charge for the workshops - the next one is on the 9th of April (I think) - check Warren's twitter feed for details -
https://twitter.com/warrenrusher

Hope those are useful

I have been trying in vain to post a video for the Mandy comedy competition on Instagram. My video is 90 seconds in length, but Instagram only allows one minute.
I have tried to contact Mandy on info@mandy.com, suggesting that it might be easier if we could send files by We Transfer. Mandy has not replied. Anybody got any suggestions?
I have put my video up on YouTube:

I was looking at online courses and my gut was CSSD. Also, I did enroll on the Intro to Acting course (I have done acting sessions before and been an SA for 5 years) But then I opted out when I realized that this is more to do with stage work which I am not really interested in, just screen. However, when I looked around I found that CSSD 250-275 prices were quite dear +100 more at CSSD compared to others when i noticed that all online tutors are working practitioners with experience. What would CSSD offer on a zoom course for the £100+ price difference and same duration compared cheaper alternatives like Scottish Conservatoire and City Academy? Would their name make a difference, or maybe just higher rent/fees.
