Daily and hourly rate for stage management

Julia Nimmo
Stage Manager

Hi,
I was just wondering what the going daily and hourly rate for a stage manager is these days? I'm going to working for a mid scale venue as an in house stage manager for their visiting shows.

Thanks

I think it depends a lot on the production, venue, and location.

At a medium-sized arena in London, working as a Venue Stage Manager for concerts, events, etc, I get £14 p/h or £150 p/d.

I was always advised to not use an hourly rate of pay. In theory a theatre could get you in for a few hours a day which would be a complete waste of time. Whenever I employ an SM I aim for £75 for a half day (5 hours) and £150 for a full day (up to 12 hours).
