Hi Cat

I had a look at your site and it may just be me and my bad eyes, but I struggles to read the dialogue in that style font, and found myself skimming the testimonials and picking out words I could decipher.

But like I said it may be my old eye balls lol xx

Lovely simple easy to follow site to show off your talents xx

Hey Vassiliou!

If you have trouble reading it I will change the font! I definitely don't want people skipping the testimonials as I think they speak louder than my CV!

Thanks for your honesty and feedback, very useful :)

Hi Cat

I think that font is much better. The other was lovely, but a bit too artsy (if that makes sense) and I read through you testimonials.Fantastic. You go girl.

Hey Alarna :)

Glad you can read that font better. I didn't realise how hard it was to read, but hopefully now everything's A-ok!!

Thanks for your help,

Hey Victoria,

I've just checked out your website. Your wealth of experience is impressive (A LOT of work this year, good for you!!) so I assume you must have a lot of footage to pull clips from? Unless I've missed it you do not seem to have a show reel on your site?

You've also got a lot of great photos on your site - do you model too? If so I'd separate the acting and modelling onto different sites to really promote yourself to the full extent in both areas.

Congratulations on getting into Central! My friend Henry has been offered a place to study there, I'm not sure if it's on the same course, but if you have a very tall, American dude in your class that's him! *laughs*

Finally I'd recommend you getting a wix or moonfruit (etc.) website so that you have complete creative control of your website and can tailor it to your needs, use it to reflect your personality and make it interesting for site visitors.

Oh, and I recognised Tom Bell in one of your clips! I've only met him on one occasion, but he's a friend of a friend. It bugged me all through watching 'Goodnight Rosemary' - I was thinking, 'I SWEAR I know him...'. Crisis resolved!

Hope that helps :)

Hey Cat,

Thanks so much for your comments! Yes, I'm waiting for all the material to come back to me so I can get a showreel together asap.

I really don't model professionally, although if someone wants to pay me I won't say no :) I've been doing a lot of shoots recently to bulk up my portfolio also as I want to do commercials I think it's quite helpful having a selection of photos with you don't you think? Most of my photos are up on http://victoriaemslie.tumblr.com/ (I'm such a huge fan of Tumblr now)...

I'm v. excited about starting at Central- so I'll definitely keep an eye out for your friend... as for my friend Tom Bell, we met randomly at a Christmas party when he was dressed as Santa and since then have done two films together! Such a small world! haha

Congratulations on your new site Cat. I like the way you have linked it up to your Spotlight & CCP resume.

Interestingly enough I had just found the wix site and was going to use it too.

All the best :)

Thanks Farah,

Yes wix is good, but a bit pricey! I think I'm going to get a domain name and somehow link it instead of paying wix directly...

It's SO easy to use though!

Actually, if anyone knows HOW I can link my existing website to a domain name, including what hidden/extra costs there may be and how difficult it is to do, that would be helpful because my dad and I are still trying to figure it out before spending anything!

Thanks :)

HI Cat. Been looking on your site...good job. You need a button and or a link on each page which will guide people back to the Home page (ie: The actress or Comedienne) page. as once you have chosen and option you can't then go back (or at least I coudl not see a link back to the home page!)....only by using explorer back button.

I'd change those fonts again to something much simpler and not italics. Keep it uniformed and simple like Arial for instance.....some browsers treat different fonts in different ways....better to play it safe!

To link back without paying Wix (though you are stuck with their tacky logo's and adds) you'd have to go with a company like 1&1 or whatever...and register your domain name as www.yourname.co.uk then (if the domain host allows it) you put a divert to your existing Wix home page link. So when we click on your actual domain name...it diverts to the wix page of your choice.

However, you might find wix wont allow that one....as they would want you to go with them. I suspect it would be easier in the long run to pay them for a year and get your website hosting etc.....and keep it all under one roof? No such thing as a free dinner I am afraid!!

I have been trialing around with the Wix website builder…its not bad I have to say! Very flexible!

Hope that helps.

Best to all.

Why don't you buy your domain name from ccp and then link your website in cos it is only £40 for 2 years.

Hey Mark!

It's like the Matrix. Once you've made a choice and you can NEVER go back!!

Having said that, I'll add links as you suggest ;) also I'll change the font. I WAS still unsure about it so I'll make it less fancy. Was it just the testimonials page that you found hard to read?

Yup... was the testimonials page which jarred for me....but a website should really stick with the same easy to read font on each page.

just a thought....don't take my word for it!

Im suffering from lack of sleep - read Marks comment about testimonials as 'testicles' - Now that would jar anyone.

....However I'm sure testicles would be ok - if you stick to same font!

OK! So, I've changed the font to something simpler and easier to read; added a 'Home' button on every page, which will direct you back to the initial Welcome screen AND added a YouTube link to more videos so I don't have to clutter up my site.

Sorry, Farah. No testicles.

Hi Cat

If you are going to be using the Wix version of your site, follow these points:

- When you save your site on wix.com, if you select 'publish' and at this point i believe it should give you the option to 'embed'. Click that, and copy the code.
- Then, you need to get hold of a html site builder programme (for example, Dreamweaver). Connect this with your website domain that you purchase (not the wix one).
- As a rule, in the folder of your site you should create a 'index.html' page. This will be the first page that users are directed to if browsing to your site via just the domain (with no '/blahblah').
- Open this index.html page up in the programme and select to view the html [sourse] code
- Paste the 'embed' code from Wix between the and headings. At this stage, nothing will show if you are 'previewing' the page within the programme, as it normally won't be able to source a flash file within it.
- I think the default background might be white, so, if you want it black to suit the colour of your site, then have a play about. It might also plonk the embedded code to an area dead left, dead right, or centre of the screen. You'll need to test this to find out, but again, have a play about.
- Once you've done all this, save it to the server.

If you register a new domain, it may take upto 48hours to actually be browseable, so you may not find it online yet, but once you have, go to it and see if it is all working ok and that the site is positioned ok within the page, suitable background colour etc.

I hope this isn't too confusing, though I can understand that it probably is lol. However, if you need more details or anything, just let me know and i'll try my best to help

Clive x

(p.s. Sorry for the essay. I was going to email you, but then i thought it might be useful info to others also coming across this thread)
