My first gig! Aberglas at the Fringe

I was just informed that I'd been accepted to act in a children's play called Aberglas at the Edinburgh Fringe, and I wanted to share! Since I decided to go ahead and try to make a life for myself as an actor a month and a half ago, this is the first time I've been successful in landing myself a gig, so it's a doubly happy time for me!

If any of you are around at the Fringe and you'd like some easy watching with puppets and a useless, arrogant prince (ie. Me!) feel free to come 'round and have a look!

I'm going to bounce around a bit now.

I'm playing the Elf in that same production- I'll look forward to working with you! Congratulations on getting the job. :)

Good for you! The Edinburgh Fringe is always a magnificent experience for you in sheer terms of finding inspiration from all the other weird and wonderful productions and performances running alongside your own, and because show length is generally kept so short, and you can only do so much promotion of your show a day, you will have plenty of downtime to enjoy a holiday whilst working. Edinburgh can also be a tempermental beast (and many of us who've been must have had to suffer the Fringe nightmare of playing to barely any audience members at some time in our lives - so high is the competition between shows), but, generally speaking, childrens' shows are a bit of a sure fire winner and tend to sell very well, and are appreciated by their core audiences of parents and kids. So, with luck, you will also have a cracking run, and may even be due to bring some profit home at the end of the day! Nice going.

Thanks!

Torya: Looking forward to working with you! I'll see you on the first meeting, then. ^_^

I don't know if this is RIGHT, but I've heard that the average number of seats sold for a single performance at the Fringe is 4, so I'm ready for it to be fairly quiet. ^_^ That having been said, children are so delicious uninhibited when it comes to showing that they're enjoying themselves and don't need fifty other people present to start laughing.

It's so hard to predict audiences at the Fringe- I did Stags and Hens there before and it was sell-out, but other shows I went to see had only a couple of people in the audience. As Lee says though, childrens' shows tend to be popular, so hopefully it'll be a success! I'm sure it will be a great fun show to be part of as well.

Absolutely. The audition pieces for the Prince were really funny. Definitely not a lazy script that is content with pleasing children alone. Parents will have a lot to look forward to. ^_^

Well done Magnus and Torya - have a ball and enjoy it!! :) Can't get to see it I'm afraid (I'm filming a new Bourne film with the lovely Matt - he saw my new showreel I'd posted up the other day and said he just HAD to have someone who does cheesy housewife SO well so they've written up a new script especially for me. I play a cheesy housewife who ditches her apron and shiny pink blusher and becomes an undercover agent exposing high-end fraud and a government conspiracy to cover up the rising price of chicken nuggets within the Asda conglomerate. It's a pain, but when they need you, they need you....)

Hope it goes really well for you both :) xx
