Any Ladies Interested in Long-form Improv?

Well, hello there!

I would very much like to form a long-form improv group. Preferably all-female as there aren't so many out there but I'm flexble. I'm looking for 2-4 people to join my merry band.

Would anybody like to play with me?

Just to give more information - check out Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza on YouTube. This is short-form improv. There will be opportunities to do this type of improv too.

Hi Sayde,

I'd love to get back in the improv game and join a troupe. I have done a lot of improv and been a part of the troupe before. This will be based in London?

Hello. Please can you explain what long- and short-form means? Thank you.
I am interested in improvisation and would like to try it out. Is it possible to commit to joining for a while at first to see if this is for me?
I'm also based in London, and if you explain what PM is, then I would be happy to send you one, and hopefully join the group soon.
Best regards. Lea Gill
(I am female, too. Really.)

Hi Lea,

If you want to see an example of short-form comedy, I suggest you type 'Drew Carey's Improv-a-ganza' into Youtube.

Long-form is harder to explain. It involves telling stories rather than just playing games and there are many different types of long-form. You'd be best off going to see a show to get a sense of what it's really about. Hoopla! is a group that runs shows in Southwark every Friday & Saturday nights.

You can't try the group out. I'm trying to start a professional group. You commit or you don't. I suggest taking a course at Hoopla! if all you want is a taste for it.

PM means private message.

Thanks.

Well, I'm still interested in a professional group also, not just practice/teachings. it's just that I haven't done this before, my experience is more specialized in short films, theatre productions in Germany and all improvs done were in order to get into character, mostly during my training, some in the plays I was on to establish scenes.
If that sounds like someone you would be willing to work with, pls send me a PM and I''ll get back to you.
Thanks for your reply and the explanation of words, I will get back to you after checkin gout your wideos on youtube in order to better be able to tell you whether it is something that I see myself doing or not.
I'm worried it might have come across as if I was not serious about this because I was suggesting to drop out of the group. I am serious about all projects I'm in for, but I would like an impression beforehand of what I'm in for and when I'll have this from Youtube I will let you know.
Thank you and good bye for now, looking forward to you reply!

Hello,
I think this is an AMAZING idea. Especially to form a group which is ALL FEMALE. I am in a improvisational group called 'The Rubiks' which is largely female oriented and we get lots of great feedback. At this time we focus on short form scenes so if anybody wants to come and check this out so they get an idea as to what this is come along.
Our next gig is at The Camden Head Pub, Camden on Valentines day Feb 14th at 7:30 pm and its totally free.
Best of luck Sayde I would love to come and watch your group when you are up and running!

Hi Sayde,

I would be really interested in being a part of it. If you can send me more info on everything that would be brilliant. I've had a look at the youtube videos and it's exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks
Sam
