Being a Christian Actor (Faith)

Dear all,

Went to an event run by Artisan Initiatives last night...basically it's a big prayer/worship type event where loads of people from the arts, media and fashion industries meet up and share experiences and talk about the Christian faith...aswell as getting free tea and donuts!! Got me thinking about my faith and how it affects how I manage my career. Just thought I'd open up a discussion...maybe meet other Christians on this site or just get the topic out there. Meaning of life stuff...always fun on a cold, grey tuesday! Faith (and religion - although I hate using the word) can have such a profound effect on our lives and is obviously a hot topic in our industry at the moment (riots in Birmingham - religious hate laws etc...)Should we have the freedom in this industry to say and do anything? Does being a Christian affect the choices you make...limit the jobs that you do?
Any thoughts?

Ben

Bless you my poor brain dead child, I do appreciate the irony (my seat is wet with the humour) but the attitude to which I was referring is the one of flippancy that such a seemingly innocent comment is quite often doled out in the form that Ms. Tegwen favours, and yet such comments have been known to cause offence within certain cultures.

My original statement was merely remarking on the fact that I personally have been shouted at by a street preacher whilst out walking with my boyfriend, and I was damned to hell. If your faith is one of love and so-called 'christian' values, then surely such behaviour is unacceptable. Imagine if he had given such abuse to someone more sensitive than I and actually upset them. How very christian.

The reason I have taken an interest in this post is for two reasons.

1.The following of a religion fascinates me. Having been brought up in a very christian environment singing in a cathedral choir to keep my music scholarship which paid for my education, I relish in debate on the subject. I never developed a faith, despite having had to be confirmed. However, and here's the kicker kids, I respect anyone that has a faith! Oh yes. It is the belief of redemption and a heaven that keeps many a dying person comforted in their final moments-which can only be a good thing. Plus, my cousin who I love dearly, is a very active christian and displays true christian values.

2.I also became interested in this thread as I know Ben.

And so I would ask the Reverend Ben, why is it that christians are supposed to love everyone, and yet I heard that you made anti-homosexual comments behind my back when we were on tour?

I hope this has clarified my position to you Sheri, Ms Tegwen, Saint Ben and anyone else who may happen to read this.

All my secular love,

Chris x

murray - in response to people meeting god in a pub the service which i help run actually meets in a night cluba nd belive you and me heres there evert single sunday! the church is the body of people "when two or more meet ill be there" doesnt matter if your in a pub, on a train or even a fast food restuarant if you meet in his name he will bless and meet with you!

another question why does any disscussion about christians always ends up turning ino a homosexual debate? grrrrrrr it angers me soooooooooo much!

hate the sin - not the sinner - homosexual, adultry, blasphemy, murder, all sin and all carry the same weight of punishment with God. so back on topic

in regards to working on a sunday i agree that as long as you give glory to god in your work and offer it to him, then he will bless you! after all dont vicars work on a sunday? i know i certainly do for my church!

Oh I'm sorry Mr Monsta, I've just checked my bible and you're right, the 7th commandment IS "Thou shalt not mince", the 8th IS "Thou shalt not wear belly tops", the 9th IS "Thou shalt not strut thy stuff to Kylie, Madonna or any such diva", and the 10th apparently IS "Thou shalt not have any fun!"

Mr. Monsta, I would refer you to my original post and LIGHTEN UP!!!!

Kisses,

The sinner (apparently)

Chris,
Although I am not a Christian I don't like to hear you have a go at Ben and Teg as they have been really kind to me during this topic of discussion. I have never met them befor but I can tell that they are really good people. It is so obvious you have a lot of issues that need to be sorted out. It is no good trying to transfer your in-securities onto other people, That will get you no-where dear.

Kind Regards

Alex.

You do realise Laughingmonsta, that you just delcared homesexuality a sin? I'd be very careful with that if I were you. Your beliefs are exactly that, beliefs, they are not fact.
