Blakes 7

Is anyone else out there a fan of Blakes 7. I've now got all the DVDs (all four of them) and this weekend, as my son and daughter were away in Denmark doing re-enactments, I had a veritable BlakeFest. I know it's hammy and some of the episodes were way out there - but it's brilliant. I once played Goneril in the style of Servalan - really worked :-))

How about Blakes 7 meets Discworld. There could be a showdown between Avon and the Patrician, Rincewind and Villa, Servalan and Granny and Blake and Vimes could try to bring them all to book.

Forget Pratchett being 'out there'! Antoinette just took the lead.....

Great show!

Actually, we recently filmed a Blakes'7 cast reunion in Milton Keynes which was interesting:

And with Doctor Who, we're currently shooting a documentary about fans of the show called 'FANZ' which should hit the festival circuit early next year:

There was a holding page for Blakes 7 for a while with a nifty new logo - now there's just a mini-poster and a couple of other things here:

http://b7media.com/

There was also a rumour of a Hollywood treatment of a film under development in the mid-nineties, for which I have a poster somewhere featuring the name... Denzel Washington! Go figure.

The last I heard was that Paul Darrow and a couple of the other actors were part of a group trying to acquire the rights to make an independent pilot. There have also been two BBC audio/ radio releases, produced by Pertwee's Who producer, Barry Letts. On top of that there were three independent (possibly fan) produced audios back in 1998.

Re: Pratchett

Remember what they did with actors' height in Lord of the Rings. Maybe Alan Brent would be better off playing Swires or one of the Wee Free Men - lol!

There's also the Kaldor City audios that utilises characters (and original actors) from B7 and Doctor Who.

Yes there were talks of a new Blake's 7 - orginal drafts had Avon in the first few episodes, handing over to a new lot. But there were loads of wranglings and I'm not sure anything is coming of it.

Used to love the series. Had my own teleport bracelet and everything. How sad is that...

Kaldor City, that's the 1998 trilogy, thanks Marq.

Anyone who does not own a parka or duffel coat should leave now...

I wish I'd known about the reunion - I would have been very sad and gone along!

I met Brian Croucher last month whilst working on a Channel 4 comedy sketch show.

He played Travis in the second series of Blakes 7 and Borg in Dr Who`s classic Robots of Death.

He was in Eastenders for a while as well.

There was a consortium that bought the rights of Blakes 7 off the Nation estate a few years ago but Paul Darrow pulled out for some reason, Shame!!

It is great to have a thread for Blakes 7 as I have been a lifelong fan for of Blakes 7 and Doctor Who. I discovered that the wonderful Sally Knyvette, who played Jenna, has a profile on here.

She does? I LOVED her character! I also loved the fact that all the clothes on the Liberator were top fashion 70's styles. One of the saddest moments was when Zen died.
Wow, I must watch them again now that this thread's been resurrected :-))

Wow. I probably replied to this thread about four years ago by the look of it. However, in the time since, there have obviously been some developments in my acting career since, and I can now say that I got to share breakfast in a B and B with Brian Croucher, and that he is, in fact, featured in my showreel punching me in the face. He told me quite a lot about how he came to leave the series because Gareth Thomas was headhunted by the RSC and other such bits and pieces while we were filming stuff for a gangster movie together. As far as I am aware, Sally Knyvette is not just out there, but continues to teach and direct on occasion, Toni (in fact, I know people who have been in her productions). You should look her up, Toni!

I will do Blake. I wouldn't mind doing a few of her classes. I did work with Paul Darrow and Michael Keating when I worked backstage at Winchester in the mid 80's. They were both really lovely but we didn't touch on Blake's 7.

Sorry - LEE!!!!
You see how this programme puts me all in a tizz. Has anyone noticed how the forum can't be accessed through the normal route? I can only get on it through this thread via an email alert. I can't get access to any of the other threads.

I've always been more of a whovian than a Blake's seven fan but it was regular viewing for me too from the start. Wasn't there an attempt to get the Daleks in it at one point?

I am going to confess the brilliant theme tune which I've been humming all day since reading this thread - use to make my cry - I actually found it emotional and brilliant! I was/am such a fan of Blake's 7 and personally it was an absolute pleasure to spend quality time with Mr Keating! What a lovely man
