Been having a discussion with a friend on this and thought I'd see what all your thoughts are.

If you don't make the final cut of a film/commercial/TV show etc etc is it still acceptable to put it as a credit on your CV, having been cast, gone to shoot, been paid for the job etc even though you will never be seen?

I personally would list a credit that was cut on my CV, especially if I was be able to access a copy of the footage to "prove" that I did the part. Credits on a CV are also a recognition of your experience, not just for people to go and watch what you did. Otherwise why would we list our stage roles. If you were cast, rehearsed the role and filmed the scene, then you did the job. After all casting directors want to know about our "experience" which you have if you did the job. Listing on IMDB would of course be a different matter, I am talking purely in terms of CV credits.

I have recently appeared in a fairly high profile feature to be release in November and I consider myself very fortunate to have made the final cut when a much more established actor with a much bigger role than myself had all his dialoge scenes were cut leaving him with what can only be describes as a background extra role.

There are many reasons why we can end up on the cutting room floor and it rarely has anything to do with the quality of our performances. My name still rolled up the screen at the end of Made of Honour but the scene can only be seen on the DVD Extras: Deleted Scenes! It happens and it doesn't make the credit any less valid!

If you played the role, then the credit is valid and therefore can be added to your CV...wether or not it ends up in the final cut is irrelevant!
