Analogue +
Purest sound quality
Easy to use and operate on the fly
Lower prices due to digital.

Analogue -
Big and heavy
Cannot store/save settings
none or only a few built in FX.

Digital +
Store scenes easily
near unlimited Fx/processing
Smaller profile than analogue.

Digital -
Good sounding desks very expensive, some may argue never as good as analogue counterparts.
More things to go wrong/breakdown.
Can be difficult to use and slow down work flow.

I'm a fan of the half way point, like the Yamaha desks where you can recall different pages, but still get most of the pots and faders of an analogue desk.

Sort of a best of both worlds scenario.

I have had a digital desk fail during a show which is a nightmare. It's rare and probably due to not being set up correctly, but it can happen.

The bbc used to have a term "Total Digital Failure" which is the fear of a digital system spitting out its dummy and just shutting down.

As long as you're prepared for this sort of thing the usefulness of them can outweigh any potential issues!

I'm digital all the way these days. The ability to programme a show to the nth degree, and focus on just perfecting it is exactly what I need. Obviously they take time to learn, and if I had a show that needed to work in an hour then analogue, but once you have a bit of prep and tech time, it's digital for me.
