OK.... I'm very bored at work. And it's been a while since any new time killer threads had been created. Just out of curiosity ~ what's been the favourite role you've played so far in your career? And why?

Toni Brooks
Actor

What about we get loads of people to invest, promising them a credit at the end of the performance - someone can just stand on the stage and recite the names. Then of course, for more serious funding, we could get loads of wealthy widows to invest for a 50% return - and then make sure we have a flop on our hands - hmmm, has that been done before?

I'm clearly a character actor, because my favourite roles have been Lucio in Measure For Measure, Silvius/Le Beau in As You Like It and the SS Captain in Bent.

Bottom - such madness!!
Mr. Frazosi in The Virtuous Burglar by Dario Fo - madness seems to be a trend here!

Very much looking forward to playing the legend that is Rabbie Burns in a new musical about his life at this year's fringe though so that could leap to the top of my list very quickly..!

Al, I was going to say I loved your Bottom - but that's just wrong! As a tiny little first year looking up to you chaps though, thought you were blooming marvellous. And I then I wrote about in my journal... Good times.

Hysterium from 'A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum', without a doubt. It was a really energetic, fun part (which had its own song and a duet). And one of the best things about it? He wasn't a completely 'nice' character either, a bit of a snitch, really, unlike the roles I usually get...

O.K. EM .... You ask for favourite role played, and you have had a fair amount of feedback. If one has been Cast in a Role, it is fair to say, apart from talent, that one is visibly right for the role.
So ... how about Roles that one aspires to do ???? ... and, obviously, why ???.

O.K ... no takers ?? ... well here goes.

Quasimodo ... with no make-up.

I can see the eyebrows going up as I type. Reason ??? as follows :-

In a long running Series and a guest artiste, called Warren, was with us .. he had just arrived by Cab at the T.V.Centre. Now Warren had a facial anomaly and it took the form of a huge wart embedded 'twixt nose and cheek.
Now it's true to say that Warren was quite attached to this wart ... and, of course, the wart was quite attached to Warren , if you get my drift. On alighting from the Cab, the Cabbie asked inquisitively, " Actor ? ".
Warren nodded an affirmative. " Oh yeah
.... wotcha been in then ". Warren replied " just finished doing Quasimodo ". The Cabbie slammed the car in gear and shouted " Yeah ... without bleedin' make-up I'll bet ".

Seymour, from Little Shop of Horrors. I have always been told I'm perfect for that part, especially when I have my glasses on. However, if physicality and annoying things like that were no obstacle, then the part I'd love to do above all others is Jean Valjean from Les Miserables. That guy experiences the full range of emotions throughout that show!

Roles I want to play? Oh, I think about this a lot!

Masha ~ Three Sisters
Helena or Alison (I haven't decided which yet ~ Look Back in Anger)
Tess ~ Tess of the D'Urbervilles
Jo ~ Little Women

And that's me sorted.

Hmmm...so many roles!

Jean Valjean is waaaay up there!
Macbeth would be the top Shakespeare role with
Iago a close second!
Either character in The Woman in Black!

And Brian in Avenue Q - that bleedin role was written for me!!

The end...
