Hello :) - Introduction and advice request

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say hello and possibly ask for advice. I have finally found the confidence within me to step out of the everyday office job and focus more on modeling and extra work. I only just joined Mandy today and wanting to find out whether lack of experience held people back in the process of getting unpaid and paid jobs? I am keen and creative London based individual so I guess the work is there, it's just finding it and securing the spot. Any general advice would also be helfpul!

Hi Maks! I echo Adam - no experience required at all. I signed up last September with NO experience (I’d left a 35 year career in aviation) and was booked a week later on a commercial. I joined an agency and was booked 2 weeks later for a major Disney series. The agency had a welcome pack with some good information, which was all I needed (terminology we were likely to hear on set etc. how to behave, but it was all very straightforward). Good luck!

Hi Maks,

It’s nice to meet you.
I’ll start off by saying that Extras work is not for everyone, I’m a model in the vintage clothes sector and in the process of pulling my photographic portfolio together. Even when a person is being photographed the time pressure is very real , and it will always mostly likely be the same in film and tv work.
Your director or photographer will only have so long to wrap up filming / shooting as the venue or set your working with can only be afforded for for a certain number of hours or days.
However please don’t let all of this put you off, I find that a lot of creative stress can be remedied by bravery and determination. Remind yourself to be ballsy and determined everyday and you are very likely to become it.

All of the best,
(Rebecca) Alexandra Knight.
