To carry on with the lightbulb jokes...

How many sopranos does it take to change a lightbulb?
Three - one to get the ladder, one to change the bulb and one to stand there moaning, "I can't get that high!"

Kathryn,

sadly this is part of the battle of being an actor. Remember that technically, january is one of the worst months for auditions sometimes, but while you cant control getting seen for jobs, you can do a small something everyday such as writing off, submitting yourself, calling up CDs possibly etc to try and further things.

This really DOES work wonders in helping one psychologically cos you feel you have more control over your career instead of waiting for an agent to call.

I think we can sometimes assume we are helpless in this business without an agent etc, or at the mercy of CDs etc. You have something to give that only YOU can give, and that uniqueness is something special.

While we all get frustrated, try do a bit of writing off every day and also keep perspective that its only four weeks into the year. You WILL probably get auditions. Remember this career is marathon, NOT a sprint. You may even find the older you get that you grow into different roles... theres no science for it.. just take it day by day.

hey blake.

Thanks, but I think that was the problem in the first place. I mean, thats all I do, all day, everyday! I just needed a brake cos sitting at the computer with the phone glued to your ear, and the only time you get out is to go to the post office... Not good for ya. Anyway the jokes helped and the bar helped even more(although my purse disagreed LOL) thanks everyone, xxxx

That's what they should teach in Drama schools. Day one, Stanislavski. Day two, Expressionist Physical Theatre. Day 3, how to deliver the line 'would you like fries with that?'.

kathryn you get off the sofa, stop playing with makeup, stop dancing to girls aloud and stop watching all the drama in eastenders and go straight to mc donalds tomorrow and pick up an application form.

In the interview dress up very smart and tell them that you can deliver the most important line in different expressions and thats "would you like fries with that"
