Leave me alone!!!
I have been pretty fed up these past couple of days, so I fancied a good moan!! This isn't really related to acting but, do any of you CCP guys get people telling what you should be doing!
Making suggestions about what you could do or should do. Just cos it suits them.
I would never dream of telling people what to do with lives, ever! I just hate being lectured!!! Grrrrr!! Don't get me wrong, as you will know from my past postings, I welcome advice and am always asking questions. But why do the masses think know whats best for you.
"Have you tried getting some backstage work? That's the way to start"
"The local amateur dramatics group do some lovely plays- why don't you get involved?"
"You know, my niece got noticed by a big producer when she was out shopping... you just have to stand out from the crowd a bit"
They mean well, I know they do. Always best I think to put my acting skills to the test and pretend that I really appreciate their advice!

I hate them.
I can't be nice about them; Or this particular aspect of the 'general public.' It genuinely drives them nuts.
I tend to just leave acting out of the conversation, as someone previously suggested.
this is great, you know - to see everyone else gets it and not just me! lol
I suspect that when you have 'arrived' (which is to say, that you are no longer a stranger to anyone because they recognise you immediately from your high profile work in TV/Film/On stage etc.), the comments simply mutate to 'You were fantastic in...X,Y,Z. Can I have an autograph?' or 'What's the next thing you're going to be doing?' or 'My daughter wants to be an actor. Do you think you can help?' etc. etc.
I don't imagine it ever ends. This is the price you have to pay for doing a job which allows every member of an audience to feel that your performances, and hence, your person, belong to them. (In a sense, your performance do, your person doesn't!).
