Hello all,

I am taking my first course at the Actors Temple on Saturday, A one day introduction to Meisner with Tom Radcliffe.

I am quite excited! Is anyone else going from here? long shot I know! but I think there are a couple of spaces left too.

Good luck with anything you are working on at the moment

Hello Rebecca and everybody!

I was invited to the Meisner course on Saturday but can't make it, and I am very interested. We did a fair bit at Drama school, but it would be good to see haow far it can be taken.

Please do let me know how it goes.

Forgive me if you alraedy know about this, but most people won't, unless they are on the mailing list, but the Actor's temple are having a performance week from August 14th to 18th at 6.30pm at 13-14 Warren Street, London, so you can check out what they do there.

If you are interested call 0207 383 3535 or email mark@actorstemple.com. I'm going on the 15th - so see you there!

I think there are only 25 places per night, so be quick!

A friend of Mine studies Meisner and has found it REALLY helpful in unlocking her, particularly with regard to taking her performance from listening to the other actor!

HOWEVER I believe all additional training as followed in the right way can be superb to help an actor continually evolve, as long as we dont become slavish devotees to any one method and switch off our own inner guide. My training at East 15 gave me the gift of a basic code of common sense principles and the beginnings of my own selective approach. Certain principles work fundamentally for everything and some techniques work selectively (Ever tried using a method approach in Dick Whittington?? haha)

I agree with David Mamet that there is a tendency toward ancestor worship and over-devotion to method and teachers in the profession, (such as to the next generation of Strasberg teachers) and not enough trust at the same time of listening to our inner voice and developing our own artistic maturity from within. Its as though we feel that by studyin 'under' someone it makes us feel more 'legit'...

In other words, workshops and courses to me are wonderful as tools for growth as long as we dont label and limit ourselves afterwards as being followers of one particular 'guru'....

Love and prosperity

Well said.

Soak up all the knowledge and do with it what you will...I personally prefer the 'smell the fart' acting technique - we've all done it and don't say you haven't, 'specially in panto!!!
