was it just me, or where there no auditions yesterday? I can't remember that happening since I joined in 2018. that can't be good. I even checked to see if I had a virus that was impeding new content.... if only I could assign the issue of lack of material to a virus. I can fix that.
Editorial Comment Hi there, thanks for taking the time to post on our Forum. Rest assured we're reading and taking note of all the feedback we get, and this is something we've always done here at Mandy.
As a member of Mandy Voices you should receive instant alerts related to your gender and location (with the inclusion of playing age if you're a member of Mandy Actors) - meaning you have access to a more diverse range of opportunities than ever before. Should you receive an instant alert that doesn't meet your core profile information please do let us know, via emails@mandy.com. We look forward to bringing you a wide range of exciting new features and improvements, many of which have been requested previously, including the ability to tailor both your jobs board and email alerts in more detail than ever before.
Our members continue to be at the forefront of everything we do - and our team continues to work incredibly hard to bring the best jobs and opportunities to our community.
Days with no job listings, more and more listing for "jobs" that aren't paying industry standards. I put the word "jobs" in inverted commas because if they aren't paying professional rates of pay then they aren't not lagitimate work. This site has not only been crippled by the badly managed updates to the IT system, but has been ruined entirely for by the takeover by Backstage.
Maybe it can still be of some use to newcomers or part-time amateurs, but for professional VO artists... I fear this site is dead.
I tend to agree. in the last year I watched average jobs paying £300-£500 become £250, and then £200, then £150.... the last job I was elegible for was paying £65-£120. that shouldn't even be allowed on the site. Mandy is slowly going the way of Fiverr. I set a minimun on what I go into the booth for, and if Mandy jobs are not even covering that, well.... let's just say August is going to be an important Mandy month for me. I will be observing closely and making decisions. Hopefully things will change for the better. Let's see what the end of August brings.
True, and concerning about job rates. They're just not realistic or professional.
Meanwhile.....I've just had a reminder from Mandy about my upcoming subscription renewal.
Stay....or jump?
And where's best to jump to?
Mandy....if you're reading this....give me an elevator pitch on why I (or anyone else...) should stay with you, when the service has become so lamentably bad. You must see what your members have reported. Are you, perhaps, considering reduced renewal rates until you get over this (fairly big...) bump in the road?
Tell me, please.....before I break into a fairly poor rendition of that song by The Clash.....
Thanks.
Yup i agree folks i think this site has managed to kill itself via a takeover...ive got 5 days left to run on sub then after Many years im off. Loads of others following suit...
Mandy's response was to manually reduce all my my search categories to just a handful of voice-over - completely scrubbing out all my Acting categories.
The thing is, the categories in the Casting notices do not marry up with the categories in our job search criteria.
I suspect that the emailed casting notices are coming from StarNow or Backstage, based on their categories, not the Mandy ones which we set
Sadly, I’ve decided not to renew my subscription. I started my VO career with Mandy and have had a successful time with this site before the takeover. Now it just doesn’t feel the same. The number of jobs along with the rates have dived. It makes me wonder if even perspective employers are walking away from the site along with the talent.
I may have a change of heart as I’ve only got 5 days left on this site but it’s unlikely. I’ll take a look at Bodalgo, Voices, etc. and see what’s best for my business.
Best of luck to you all. This is a great community of talented people. I just hope Mandy puts some effort into turning things around and allows us to have confidence in this site and what it had to offer once again.
Good luck, Linton, whatever you decide to do. It's sad to see people drifting away; even sadder to see no response on here from the Mandy team, or any effort to do something about it!
Sad to say ..its not seemingly of any interest to Mandy at all...ive been loyally on and off the site for over 10 years...it has just deteriorated in so many ways and devalued itself with some of the ridiculously low fees for voice jobs ( which newbies might take)..and the endless other jobs sent through for technicians ,front of house, sightseeing guides, etc etc..stuff totally irrevant to what we signed up for..Im off it now...just ended my contract....they wont care a Jot.
It's so sad reading all these msgs. And even sadder that Mandy clearly doesn't even take the time to read their own forum to see how their clients feel.
What a shambles this has become :( I don't even think they'll care if they lose loafs of us, as they'll always be newbies coming forward to take our place, and they have no idea how great this site used to be :(
Well said April...cant believe they dont bother to read the forums...actually they probably do but dont care a JOT about longtime loyal subscribers..so dont really care folks leaving in droves...sad but true...maybe someone should alert them to the fact so many of us were cheesed off with the very poorly performing site since Backstage/ star now took over...i have mentioned it in the past but just got a corporate reply about updating their computer trollocks...
I tried to do this publicly on Twitter after getting SO frustrated by the mute response from Mandy management, and I got the standard "please email us with more information concerning your problem..." reply, which frankly Mandy ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH.
I asked them (via Twitter) to publicly address the outcry from their (PAYING) members - but to no avail. It's a shambles and the silence from Mandy management is deafening.
Appalling support from the team! Surely anyone running a business needs to listen to the people paying to use it? And acknowledge that they're listening....and THEN....spell out what they're doing to make things better for everyone. But here? Just......silence......
Yep, I didn't renew either both my CCP and VP profiles.
Echo everyhing Linton, and those following have said.
Currently, I remain a member in the vain hope that this some sort of development and tune in here, just for that purpose.
Surely, somebody at Mandy (or their Backstage/Starnow masters) must be seeing the exodus through subscriptions, or the lack of them.
I still don't get e-mail alerts to forum replies - I think that may be deliberate in an attempt to stop the bad news spreading.
Hey Ian
I get email alerts about this thread so i'd suggest to check the alerts tab is ticked just above the creat post button or look at your settings and see if this is the cause.
"GBP 25 flat rate Description: Adult male voices with Scottish, Welsh or North of England accent to read 5 minute script of voice commands for scientific analysis. Professional voice-over experience Not required."
!!!!!!!£25 flat rate. FOR FIVE MINUTES!!!!!! And 'no experience required..'. And someone...will, or already has...seen this as an opportunity to get a foot in the door. Professional rates please, for professional people, on a professional site. Is that too much to ask for, Mandy?
