I'm off to do our press call for panto next week, my third in a row at Doncaster Civic Theatre and the last one in that building as it makes way for a new theatre in the spring, who else is in panto this year and where? :-)

I've only ever done one panto and I'm a bit wary of applying for most as they all seem to want strong singers rather than people who can carry a song - I'm definitely in the latter category.
Maybe I should just go for it!

I'm going to be playing Muddles in Snow White & The Seven Dwarves at The Grove Theatre in Dunstable. This'll be my 3rd professional panto and I love it!

Hi Michael, We have a couple of links in the past, I did a season with Imogen Vance at Sidmouth Pavilion, (I was stage managing for them so it doesn't appear on my CV). As well as working with Robert McWhir when we did wind in the willows at the Lyceum in Crewe.

Toni, Characters like fairy godmothers and wicked queens usually "carry a song" more than need Julie Andrews :-) so don't let that worry hold you back.

Simon I'm back with David again this year so I'll say hello for you when I see him monday :-)

Nathan/Aaron I hope you've got your land legs back after out adventures on the high seas this summer, have a good time in OZ.

Any more panto people?

I absolutely love the panto season!! My Christmas' would seem very strange without it :-) This year I am playing Wendy in Peter Pan at the Middlesbrough Theatre.

Nigel and Micheal I also have performed in the Sidmouth Summer Play Festival! Loved it.

I've done panto for the last two years. Amazing experiences.
Nothing set in stone as yet for 2012, but have auditions for Mother Goose and The Wizard of Oz in the next 2 weeks, so here's hoping ;)

Hi Kelly,
You did quite a few at sidmouth I see and then combined both my links by working for Charles Vance at my home town theatre in Crewe, we've got a lovely theatre here, 1911 Edwardian 700ish seats with gorgeous blue and white plaster work of Grecian ladies. One of the few operating sun burners (a kind of air conditioning system whereby a giant gas burner in the ceiling draws all the air up and out of the auditorium) needless to say its rarely used! The auditorium is listed but the Front of House was completely demolished in the early 90's to be replaced by a modern building. Something that bugs me about that is that they leave the Christmas illuminations permanently attached to the front of the building, so there are always giant snowflakes on it.

Ha, ha, thanks Nigel. I'm looking forward to it! I've had the good fortune of playing Crewe Lyceum in the past (can't remember if it was Brief Encounter or Dial M For Murder)- beautiful theatre- a Matcham if I remember correctly?

Wishing all you panto people good lovely long runs.
I'm not doing it this year....just as well as I would not have been able to do the film I'm involved with now.

I did Panto 3-4 years on the trot.....hard work but really good fun....I always think its down to the cast at the end of the day! With a lovely cast and background team....good digs.....everything else slots into place!

I wont miss rushing back on Boxing day though.

Its behind yooooooo!!

I did alot of panto in my "Community Theatre" days, but there don't seem to be the parts for the more mature lady in the professional world. I used to love it - especially scaring the children!!
