*Tap Tap* - Is this thing on?

I joined Mandy 2 weeks ago and have seen a lot of great looking jobs posted, I've applied to maybe 20, all relevant, all well within my skillset.

    Not one response, nothing, zip.

Whats going on? are people universally rude on here?

It seems I'm in some sort of free trial mode, does that mean my applications don't actually get delivered?

Would I pay to be a member? at this point, absolutely not.

Welcome to the club! It is definitely like this on here. I've been on here for nearly 5 years and have only had 2 solid jobs and two that have resulted in unanswered emails. I used to think that it was because I was based up North and apparently nothing else exists north of London. But I think it's just down to people not being arsed to actually reply to people.

That's reassuring as I've applied for loads of jobs on here but haven't heard a thing from any of them. At least I can see that a couple of my applications have been viewed!

Unfortunately that’s the way this page works. Your application can be viewed but it’s often ingnored.

2 weeks and 20 applications in this line of work is barely even a drop in the ocean. Having been on the casting side of this website you can recieve hundreds of applications and there just isn't enough time in the day to reply to anyone apart from the handful you wish to shortlist/audition.

Keep on keeping on and something will come through.

Been a member since March 18 and not had one opportunity - maybe my age, maybe it’s because I’m based in Scotland. How do youngsters get opportunities these days ....

I'm glad I saw this. My trial is due to expire and I won't bother renewing. Most of the jobs are well below anything I'd charge and the ones I've applied for have been ignored so far.

The site as a whole is a bit clunky and designed quite poorly for a creative services portal.

I know that feeling, I had it to begin with. I really wish more people posting jobs would send a 'thanks for applying but..' message. For reference, I have applied for about 50 jobs since March this year. I have got three of them and and my membership has paid itself, with other applications I had some communication, in two cases a polite message thanking me for applying but we found someone. I think it would be great for Mandy.com to make the default to be that at a minimum when they fill a job, a message is sent to all those who applied to let them know. A default one, or one which could be customised by the job poster. That's a bit of work for the website people, but I think it would mean people who get nothing back might feel that at least there is two way communication and might stick around longer on the site.

That would be great Phil, let’s hope they take notice and have an interest in retaining users. Another idea might be to also have a facility on the job post to show how many people have applied so far. This would then perhaps manage expectations a little and indicate whether you are one of the early applicants or way too late to realistically stand a chance.

Yes, Jess I like the idea of an indication of how many people have applied - are you listening Mandy? I might write to Mandy to suggest a few ideas I have actually and I will include your idea Jess. Good luck with getting work!

Just to let you know Phil (plus anyone else like me who might also be struggling) that I've had positive responses from two Mandy jobs in the last few days plus a "thank you but the role is filled". I'm not sure if this is pure luck, the result of the numbers game or the fact that I've taken the time to verify a higher % of my credits now but whatever the reason i'm not complaining. Keep plugging away peeps, we'll all get there if we want it enough :-)

Further update.....I'm now getting regular profile views and a decent amount of positive feedback from my applications so keep on keeping on everyone, it does get better :-)

Nope, nothing’s changed for me. Applications viewed, no replies. Not even a thanks but no thanks. I appreciate the earlier reply from the admins but I doubt it’s ever going to change.

    Ho hum...
