Thought for the day

Do you know, it's just dawned on me that I've spent more time in my life dreaming than thinking. I think I missed my life: it passed me by while I wasn't paying attention. No one has plenty of time. It's important to do what you're doing like it's your last chance.

In the words of Gibran -
"Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that hope is his twin brother"

Sasha, that has got to be my fave so far...

Thanks Mark - glad you liked it - it certainly echoes deep in my heart too!

I wrote your name in the sky but the wind blew it away
I wrote your name in the sand but the sea washed it away
I wrote your name in my heart and there it will stay.

beautiful.. just beautiful (Mark tries desperately to get the thought of Bernard Matthews and his turkey roll..)

6.45

There is a timer that is blue,
a spirit of evil hue.
My rest is taken,
dreamland broken,
the knell of the top drawer.

I cant kill it,
but i can cheat it
I watch a smooth figure arise.

For a while i can view,
through half lidded orbs,
I roll in her warmth while make-up she daubs,
and smile
till 7.15.

There he lay
the angel of the silences
Cast his heart out he does
time and time again.
To be a rock as she grows
into the woman he hopes to know.
Instead she dances around.
Out of reach on firm ground
While the rock succumbs to the wash
of the tide

Two men looked out through their prison bars.
One man saw mud. The other saw stars.

Inspiration for us all in low moments in life.

That's right. Always remember, folks, that taller people can see the stars easier than midgets.

Hmmm...

Not sure how inspirational this one is: after all, they're both in prison.

And perhaps the one looking at the mud will be out in a week, while the stargazer is serving three life sentences for murdering nuns.

Context is everything, after all.

Such beautiful thoughts gentlemen - well, at least some of you less cynical ones, anyway. They certainly give all women hope of one day finding a man who connects with their mind, body and soul. Thank you.

Sometimes you hold on tight to things you want with both hands because you fear you will lose that it if you dont.

But its so easy to damage that thing thats so dear to you by holding on so tight.

Finding a way to let it go is the hardest of things but often the most necessary.

Just hope and hope that i will come back to you of its own accord.

Just a note to Hugh regarding your response to the prison allegory. The only context that matters here is that both men are trapped beyond their control and that the only choice they have is to look at the mud or look to the stars: - to give in to despair or give way to hope. Attitude is everything, after all...Unless you were being flipant you may well have missed the point buddy.

Well... perhaps Hugh was being a tiny bit flippant. But at least he doesn't hide behind a mask of anonymity. Here's ny thought for the day: Stand Up And Be Counted!

Touche Hugh! I'm glad that you were being flipant before...and I can't speak for the other anon, but I can safely say that when one looks like me, hiding becomes a way of life...that's why I only go for parts that involve masks and heavy prosthetics...which in turn is why I am poor and cannot afford plastic surgery...(there seems to be a cycle forming here)

all the best to all

Many thanks for that, Gooseman. Although perhaps I needed to be gently reprimanded for being facetious. Being of the (DEEPLY unfashionable) pull-yourself-together-and buck-up school, I do feel a bit like Mary Poppins in the Moulin Rouge on this thread.

Having said that, in all seriousness, here's a little nugget of wisdom that I used to dish out to my students, and with which I actively used to fortify myself when I decided to become an actor:

"It's never too late to be what you might have been." (George Eliot)

Best Wishes
