Tips on getting started?

I only have two credits but want to start embarking on my journey as an actress. Does anyone have tips on how to get started? I've been trying to find an agent to represent me but I don't live in either Los Angeles or New York where most agents are.

Hi Dana!
My first free resource would be to watch movies you enjoy a couple of times. The first time, for entertainment and the second for character analysis. Then find a scene you like from each movie and try to do your own version, making sure to stay true to the scene, until you feel what the character felt... I hope this helps. :)

Hi Dana!
This I love we are always discovering ways to advance ourselves and strive!! This is what an Actor does consistently! My best advice is first get in a class the advice that was given to me from Casting Directors from the time I started til this very day. Even though your not in NY or LA don’t let that be a factor get into a class/acting coach study the Craft! To advance on you repertoire! Highly important especially when submitting whether to Agents or Casting Directors! And yes watch films study study study!! Find student filmmakers in your area and start collaborating with them as well! Who knows they could be your next Major Filmmakers of tomorrow! Thru all of those resources you’ll be apart of a community of Talent which the doors will open up and you’ll find your nitch! Wishing you the very best of luck!!

Dana one last note finding an Agent....submit to those in you area keep submitting as you gain credits etc and as long as your studying your craft consistently as what Agents want to see whether you have a long list of credits, they want to see your dedication to you and your craft!

I live in the small market, no where near LA or NY. Definitely submit latest headshot and resume to your local agencies, never pay to join agency. Contact all of them (local agencies) , one might say yes and go from there. That’s how I started, and every time you get any any commercial, tv or film work, always network with other actors and crew, build your network top priority.

Hi! My advice is to work work work on any project paid or not! Start taking online classes where you can meet other actors/teachers. Invest in the casting websites if you can, and most importantly headshots. Get that reel going! :) best of luck
