Voice Over audition feedback

    hi

After submitting several audition samples on here and never hearing a dickie bird I am guessing these companies are far too busy to contact you if your services re not required.....it would be so useful to have some feedback as a benchmark for where you are going wrong and how to improve, or is it just that your voice was wrong ? Either way it would be nice to know!

    Hi Craig,

I know where you are coming from but really the best way to deal with auditions is just to do them Then forget them! The only exception I think is when you have direct communication with them: for example when they ask for a bespoke audition. Then I think it is only polite as you have gone the extra mile for them!

Yeah, that's a tough one. I feel you buddy. Unfortunately being at times on the other side of the audition table. I can tell you that it is not personal, just a matter of time location for production so that only short selections are communicated with. Ironically enough, it is either the larger companies or the smallest that have the best basic feedback as either the smaller productions have more direct contact with few people in the mix and can and maybe at times will give at least basic communicative contact. Or the larger companies will have more people in the mix with dedicated teams that may fire off at least a basic thank you for participating form email. It is up to you to request feedback if you really want it but do not expect response in every case.

If you really want feedback then you are better off asking for this from your pears even on here or on other platforms.

I agree.... audition and move on. Having said that, I do always check if the audition has been listened to, but on Mandy, it isn't always clear as it depends on the file attachment system the employer chooses to use on their castings.

The problem is that feedback is subjective so not necessarily helpful unless it was a sound quality issue. 'One man's meat is another man's poison' as the saying goes.

There's another P2P site that has always used feedback as a way of deciding how quickly voices get sent auditions..... unless of course, they buy an even higher level of membership!!! Ha! Their business model stinks being run that way, and what do you do when employers won't give feedback in a system that depends on it to 'grade their voices?!

Personally I think nothing more is needed than a 'Like' or maybe the 'Under Consideration' that is currently an option for Mandy employers.

I just forget and move on, I give it the best I can in the audition then leave it up to the company if they wanna hire me or not.

Slightly off the subject does anyone know of any other voiceover sites that post paid work/opportunities? I’ve tried people per hour but that wasn’t for me.

    Just curious.

Agree. Audition and move on but I do look to see if it has been listened to. Just one thing, though. I looked at one job I auditioned for and rather than saying "Viewed", it said "Under Consideration". For a minute I thought, "Oooh, They're considering me", but I'm not sure if anyone else has had this? Interested to hear.

Yes I've had this several times. It simply means you've been shotlisted but isn't any guarantee of getting the job.

Ah ok. Thanks Cia. I guess that’s a small positive then, being shortlisted.

    Hi All

I'm new to Mandy. Does anyone know if there is a way of finding out how many people have already auditioned for a job? I am on two other P2p sites and you always get an idea of where you are in the list. But I can't see it here.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Nicky

No Mandy doesn't offer a way of showing us that.
